Finale for concert season
Following the successful Somerset Schubertiad in September, Cossington Concerts close their tenth anniversary season with a recital from The Dominant Quartet.
The popular Moscow-based string quartet returns to Cossington for a third time on Saturday at 7.30pm and will perform in St Mary's Church.

The Dominant Quartet ranks as one of the foremost Russian string ensembles, and with good reason: it is the epitome of the world famous Russian Quartet School.
Founded 15 years ago, the Dominant Quartet was the brainchild of the cellist Valentin Berlinsky, who had been a member of the well known Borodin Quartet.

In 1996, soon after its formation, the quartet won the Fourth Shostakovich International String Quartet Competition in St Petersburg.
The same year the quartet members began serving as resident performing artists at the Moscow State Philharmonic.
In 1997, the Dominant was awarded the prestigious Prokofiev Grant from the Rostropovich Foundation, and in 2001, a prize at the International String Quartet Competition in Bordeaux as well as an award from the French Ministry of Culture.
In the concert Mozart's delightful Hunt Quartet, composed in Vienna in 1784 as the fourth of six quartets dedicated to Haydn, provides an elegant foil for the searing, autobiographical Eighth Quartet of Shostakovich, composed in 1960 in "memory of the victims of fascism and war".
The Dominant Quartet's programme ends, poignantly, with Schubert's finest work in this genre, the Death and Maiden Quartet, named after one of his songs.
As with the Shostakovich, this quartet, dating from 1824, offers powerful glimpses of the composer, who himself believed that the imagination could be nourished by adversity.
This will be the last concert to be presented by husband and wife David Goode and Julie Anne Sadie, the outgoing chairman and artistic director respectively of Cossington Concerts.
David and Julie have, with the support of the other trustees of this ambitious music series, delivered recitals, festivals and theatrical performances featuring world class artists for over a decade.
They have also supported young talent through Cossington Concerts' Fund for Young Musicians, which has made awards to over 60 young Somerset musicians in the past five years to a total of £20,000. While it will not be possible to promote the concert series in 2013, the Fund for Young Musicians will, it is hoped, continue its work of encouraging local young musicians.
Julie Anne Sadie said: "This is very much the end of an era, and so we hope visitors both old and new will fill the church to capacity to hear this great music and to mark the occasion with us."
