Fifties theme for fete
THE grand opening of Cranmore Village Fayre will take place at 2pm on Bank Holiday Monday outside the village hall.
This year, Cranmore Community Group has adopted the idea of an all-weather, all-encompassing event for residents and visitors.
As well as the hall and the playing fields; the pub, church and railway will all be taking on a 1950s theme for the day.
Parish council chairman, Grant Bolton, said: "This promises to be a good event for all the family and it is great to see the whole village taking part.

"We are looking forward to welcoming former Mid Somerset News & Media editor Philip Welch to open the fete for us. We thought it was appropriate that someone who has helped so much with communities should have the job of opening the fair for ours."
The village hall will be housing a photographic exhibition, refreshments and entertainment including a 50s/60s band and a group of lindy hoppers.
The pub will be putting on a BBQ as well as a bouncy castle.
The church will be demonstrating bell ringing and letting those with a curiosity have a go.
Those attending will not only have a chance of taking part in the prize draw and silent auction but there is a guaranteed prize for all programme purchasers.
Entry to the event will be £1 for adults and free to under 12s.
