Fawlty Towers star set to sell 100 paintings
Monty Python star John Cleese is to sell 100 paintings – including one of Bristol docks worth £15,000 – next month in an attempt to raise £450,000 according to a report in the Daily Mail.
The sale comes after a previous clear-out in 2011 when the 73-year-old star sold more than 100 paintings which had been in storage for three years for £500,000 to help fund a divorce.
The most valuable painting he is selling is one of the city docks painted in 1900. Many of the paintings are by the Victorian artist Albert Goodwin.
According to the columnist Richard Kay, the paintings are being sold by his friend, art dealer Chris Beetles, who has a gallery in St James', London.

The sale comes almost four years after Weston-super-Mare-born Cleese was landed with a costly divorce. He had to pay £8 million in cash and assets to his third wife, psychotherapist Alyce Faye Eichelberger, plus £612,000 every year until 2016.
Undeterred, he married wife number four, Jennifer Wade, 42, on the island of Mustique last year.
Mr Beetles said: "He is now pretty much all square as far as his finances are concerned.
"It is more or less under control so he is not really being forced to sell these artworks — it is more a case that he doesn't want to keep them in storage.
"He thinks it would be better to sell them and let someone else enjoy them.
"He is feeling much happier in his life."
