Farmers asked to find a home for barn owls
Farmers and landowners are being urged to support a wildlife project encouraging barn owls to breed on their land.
The Cam Valley Wildlife Group carries out monitoring of the birds and is keen to see the barn owl population increase in the area.
The group covers an area centred on Midsomer Norton and Radstock and has been running the barn owl conservation project for 18 years.
Group members are keen to continue the work in encouraging breeding pairs to take up a home in the area.

Andre Fournier, from the group, says that the area is blessed by a rich barn owl -friendly habitat with of rough grassland and pasture and small fields bordered by healthy hedgerows as well as supply of suitable barns.
Boxes for inside barns are supplied free to landowners and the wildlife group has just been awarded a grant of £150 from the Bristol Naturalists Society which means that 15 new boxes can be built.
