Fantastic four for Freeman
Isle of Wedmore Bowls Club's annual dinner was held for the first time at Wells Golf Club last week, with prizes being presented to outdoor competition winners by chairman Brian Freeman.
Chief recipient was club president Ron Barron, who became the first player in Wedmore's history to win all four singles titles – the men's 4-Wood, 2-Wood, Open singles and Over-70s Cup.
He was also runner-up, with his wife Margaret, in the Family Pairs.
There was unprecedented success for the ladies teams, who won all three local leagues last season – the Victoria Ladies Triples, the Wessex League and the Mendip Ladies Triples, where they had been runners-up in 2011.

Wedmore members expressed their gratitude to the competition secretaries Ann Hughes and Rod Bull for their work throughout the season and Isabel Lee, Margaret Barron and Liz Hamblin for organising an enjoyable evening.
