Ex-bobby in charity climb up Kilimanjaro
A FORMER Shepton Mallet Police sergeant plans to climb Kilimanjaro for charity.
Graham Moxey, aged 57, was a police officer for 30 years, serving at Frome, Radstock, Keynsham and Bath as well as Shepton Mallet before he retired in 2009. He is currently working as a Senior Security Officer at the University of Bath.
He now plans to climb the mountain which exceeds 19,000 ft in the hope to raise £500 for Prickles Hedgehog Rescue.
Graham said "Climbing Kilimanjaro will be tough going. I trekked to Everest Base Camp in 2010 but the thought of tackling Kilimanjaro which dominates the African landscape is just mind-blowing."

Prickles is a charity based in Cheddar who treat and rehabilitate hedgehogs.
Graham chose to raise money for them after November last year when he found a tiny female hedgehog at the side of the road, too small to survive winter. He took the hedgehog, who he called Clara, to Prickles, who were able to care for her prior to her release back to the wild this Spring.
He said: "As well as being a great personal achievement any money I can raise for charities such as Prickles, may help slow the decline of the hedgehog and ultimately stop it becoming extinct."
Hedgehog numbers have declined dramatically in the UK since the 1970s dropping from 30 million to just 1.4 million today. There is a high risk they may become extinct without support. Prickles Hedgehog Rescue play a vital role in rescuing, caring for and rehabilitating sick and injured hedgehogs and take in hedgehogs from across Somerset, North Somerset, Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol and the surrounding Mendip area.
