Registration for the forthcoming Premier Motocross series in the West Country has now closed as all classes are full and, in fact, many well-known competitors have missed out.

The expert class was full several weeks ago and entries for this include British Championship contenders Alex Snow, Luke Hawkins and Shane Carless as well as current title holder Jamie Skuse, from Calne, Luke Hill, Lewis Gregory, Jake Shipton, Jake Millward, last year’s National Youth champion Dan Thornhill and four times winner of the series Bristol’s John May, who missed most of last year’s series through injury.

In the junior class there are countless new names, including many up and coming youngsters from as far afield as Sussex, Oxfordshire and West Wales.

Classes for the over-35s, 40s and 50s are being retained for the ten-round series which kicks-off in early March at Kingsteignton, near Newton Abbot.

The series will again be backed by South Devon-based Phoenix tools.

The British Clubman Trials Championship kicks-off tomorrow with the North Berkshire Club’s Wallace Cup trial at West Hagbourne, near Didcot, and the Lyn Club are staging their Lyn Cup trial at Parracombe, in North Devon, which can be entered on the day.

Most experts in the South West Centre are expected to contest the event at Kemacott Farm, including former South West area champion Ian Baker and his sons Nick and James and close relatives Jordan and Joe Baker, Mick and Martin Thompson, Mike Champion and Tom and Kevin Bushin.

Away from the sporting scene, enthusiasts of all ages are expected to flock to the Carole Nash Bristol Classic Bike Show at the Royal Bath and West Showground, near Shepton Mallet, today and tomorrow.

There are numerous dealer and club stands depicting the famous British brands including Norton, BSA, AJS, Matchless, James, Francis Barnett, Royal Enfield, Ariel, Velocette.

There is also the Autojumble where one can usually find that elusive spare part that cannot be found elsewhere, plus run of the mill spares like cables, tyres and a huge range of clothing, waterproof and otherwise.
