The Somerset Guardian's What's On guide Your Time can reveal today that St Albans’ genre-bending four-piece Enter Shikari will be rocking the Cheese and Grain, Frome, this spring

Last January, Enter Shikari released their third studio album, A Flash Flood Of Colour, to mass acclaim, they landed a top five hit and claimed the AIM Awards Independent Album of the Year and were crowned Kerrang!’s Album of the Year too.

The band, which continues to defy those who would seek to pigeonhole them by exploring the furthest extremes of their musical pallet, play Frome’s Cheese and Gain on Friday, April 5.

A Flash Flood Of Colour ventured deeper into the diverse sonic universe that Enter Shikari have created for themselves over the course of previous albums, 2007’s Take To The Skies and 2009’s Common Dreads, and the 1,000 plus live shows the band have played since forming as schoolboys in 2003.

Taking the seemingly disparate elements of punishing post-hardcore heaviosity, lush ambient soundcapery, ribcage-worrying dubsteppy sub-bass buffoonery and pop melody, the band have finally arrived at a sound that can only really be described as “Enter Shikari”.

The band, still featuring original members Roughton “Rou” Reynolds on vocals, Rory Clewlow on guitar, Chris Batten on bass and Rob Rolfe on drums, are renowned for their frenetic live performances and were named Best Act at Reading and Leeds Festivals in last year’s NME’s User’s Poll.

You Time’s Dan Biggane said: “Having enjoyed the Enter Shikari live experience on numerous occasions, I can confidently say that the show is one not to be missed.

“From new fan favourites such as Sssnakepit, Arguing with Thermometers and Gandhi Mate, Gandhi to older ‘classics’ Juggernauts, No Sleep Tonight, Mothership, Anything Can Happen in the Next Half Hour..., Jonny Sniper and OK Time for Plan B, Enter Shikari are known for their intensity and energy and a setlist stuffed with mosh-tastic tunes ... plus who could possibly resist the hand-clapping of Sorry, You’re Not a Winner?”

“It’s great for both the Cheese and Grain and Frome to land yet another big-named act in a season which also features such awesome acts as Reel Big Fish and The Straits among others.”
