Enjoy sights of historic village on tour of open gardens
Residents of Mells are inviting people into their village for the fourth annual Open Gardens on Saturday, June 9, when 12 plots will welcome visitors.
The gardens will be on view from 11am to 6pm, giving plenty of time for strolling round the historic village, taking in the gardens en route with pit stops at the Tithe Barn and Mells Cafe.
The bell ringers of St Andrew's Church will be ringing a quarter peal at 3pm and green-fingered visitors will have the choice of buying hardy perennials and shrubs from NW Plants.
The dozen gardens have something to inspire everyone, from historic Mells Manor North Court with stonework by renowned Edwardian architect Sir Edwin Lutyens, to the old orchard of Selwood House which is now in the process of restoration as a vegetable and flower garden.
