Eccentric music from eclectic Flaky Jake
London-based Flaky Jake – accordion eccentric, honorary Deptford Mexican, and longtime perpetrator of good-time gumbo grooves and Zydeco mayhem – brings his grub bag of simmering musical flavours from all around the Caribbean.
He will be appearing at the Barton Inn, Barton St David, tomorrow, from 8.30pm and entry is free.
From Louisiana comes French flavoured Zydeco (Cajun soul/blues) and New Orleans Mardi Gras marching music. From Texas and Mexico comes picante Spanish chicano and norteno with more saucy tropical accordion styles from Colombia, Venezuela, Cuba and Jamaica. Featuring fiddles, drums, percussion, bamboo flute, accordians and guitars, along with some pretty eccentric musicians, it will be a very unusual musical experience.
