Were you part of an ECOS production? Do you have pictures of past shows? The ECOS amphitheatre at Frome's Merlin Theatre, is celebrating its 21st anniversary this summer, with a special event on July 5 as part of the Frome Festival and is looking for the people involved and any memorabilia they may have.

Built in 1992 to promote "prosperity, peace and goodwill between the peoples of Europe" and to "foster cultural exchanges between young people," the amphitheatre includes 12 gigantic stones (one from each of the EU member countries at the time) and has seen many thrilling productions staged there in the last 21 years.

From stunning rock operas to juggling conventions, professional companies such as Kneehigh Theatre to the town's own choirs and orchestras, ECOS has proved to be a wonderful venue and symbol for Frome. To commemorate 21 years, a plaque is to be unveiled on the amphitheatre, illustrating the stones and their history, and explaining the process that lead to the construction of the amphitheatre, and an exhibition about ECOS will be held in the Merlin Theatre Foyer curated by the local artist behind the ECOS project, Barry Cooper.

A show featuring extracts from previous productions, plus new material, is planned under the direction of Mike Walker and Claudia Pepler, who directed and starred in the first productions on ECOS.
