Driving trial delayed
A Street man accused of driving while disqualified and without insurance has had his trial date postponed.
Alistair Luke Rutter, 24, of Deerswood Gardens, pleaded not guilty to the two offences alleged to have taken place at Glastonbury on March 24 when he previously appeared before South Somerset Magistrates.
The case had been adjourned for the defendant to stand trial on June 12, but the court was told that because new relevant material had only been received by the defence they had asked for more time to consider the evidence.
The magistrates agreed to vacate the trial and adjourned it until June 21 for a new trial date to be listed. Until then they released Rutter on bail on condition he does not sit in the front seat of any motor vehicle except when attending court on the next occasion.
