A man who admitted offences of driving without insurance and while using a mobile phone at Shepton Mallet has had his case adjourned.

Jack Paul Tucker, 21, of Station Road, Castle Cary pleaded guilty to the two allegations committed on November 1 last year when he appeared before South Somerset Magistrates.

Defending solicitor Nick Foster asked for an adjournment for a special reasons argument to take place for his client not to be punished for the insurance offence.

"My client did have an insurance policy but he was not authorised to drive another person's vehicle," he said.

"However his insurer has admitted that they gave him incorrect advice about this point and told him he was allowed to drive another person's vehicle with their consent.

"He has also never received his policy documents from the company and has made an official complaint against them."

The case was adjourned until March 26 for a special reasons argument to take place.
