Dr Phil Hammond turns spotlight on asbestos dump plan in Private Eye
Bath and North East Somerset Council has come under fire in the latest edition of Private Eye.
The local authority has been accused of ignoring the council's duty to the health of local residents in the Medicine Balls column by celebrity doctor Dr Phil Hammond in the current affairs magazine.
In the article he questions why B&NES walked away from the Stowey quarry public inquiry.
B&NES claims the concerns they initially had about the type of waste being dumped at the site have been addressed after the appellant changed the application to remove non-stable hazardous waste in favour of just asbestos.
However, Bristol Water still has serious concerns about the possibility of the water being polluted.
The Stowey quarry public inquiry recommences on October 3 at Fry's Conference Centre, in Keynsham, at 9.30am.
