Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance at risk of losing donations to rival charity
Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance may have been losing vital donations to a Coventry based air ambulance charity. The Coventry based charity is calling itself The Air Ambulance Service and placing collection boxes in Somerset. The charity has yet to fly a patient and its rebrand and use of funds has been criticised. It was set up to provide an air ambulance service for children and says it hopes to start flying them in the spring. The similarity in name could lead to people mistakenly giving donations meant for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance to the wrong charity.
Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance is a charity which relies completely on donations to provide a crucial life saving service. It attends an average of three to four incidents a day. The service depends on the generosity of the public to help raise the £1.5 million a year it costs to keep flying.
