Don't let them ruin skatepark
The new skatepark in Glastonbury is a huge success, and is being used by large numbers of genuine skaters, BMXers and bladers daily, who spend hours practising difficult tricks skills and techniques.
My concern is that in the last few days a small number of young people are turning up at the park with only bottles of alcohol, no skateboards, bikes or blades. They are obviously not interested in the sport at all. The worry is that all the users will be "tarred with the same brush" and I feel that I must defend the many decent lads who take their sport seriously.
Some of them were involved with raising funds and worked hard with the council to get this skatepark built.
If this minority are bored because there is "nothing to do" and they are not interested in skating I suggest they campaign constructively for their own project to keep occupied, instead of ruining others.
