A MARTOCK man who denied an allegation of assaulting his partner has had the case against him discontinued.

Max David Dobinson, 23, of Vincent Way, appeared before South Somerset Magistrates sitting as a domestic violence court.

He pleaded not guilty to assaulting Danielle Reeves by beating during an incident at Martock on August 16.

When the defendant appeared in the dock the court was told that the victim had made a retraction statement to the police which had been handed to the prosecution on the morning of the hearing.

After further discussions the prosecution agreed to discontinue the case against Dobinson and he was free to leave.
