What Did You Think?
The Merlin Theatre in Frome recently kicked off their new audience development initiative 'What Did You Think?' with a performance of award-winning comic Daniel Bye's latest show, The Price of Everything.
What Did You Think? is a scheme funded by the Arts Council that aims to make quality theatre accessible to all, helping to keep the Merlin at the heart of the Frome community.
Offering tickets to selected shows at just £5, What Did You Think? audiences are then invited to have their say immediately after the show and leave feedback on exactly what they thought of the performances.
The Price of Everything was met with rave reviews from the audience who left comments including: "A completely unexpected format – very fresh and engaging, remarkably entertaining and rather moving!" and "A funny and thought provoking performance with good material and audience contact. It confounded my expectations. It made me (us!) feel POSITIVE & HOPEFUL".

The volume of feedback revealed audiences really do care about the work that is shown in their local theatre.
The Merlin's artistic director, Claudia Pepler, said: "At the Merlin we strive to provide the people of Frome and the surrounding area with excellent, memorable experiences in the performing arts. What Did You Think? allows us to ask the audience directly if we've achieved this. It was great to see the scheme get off to a flying start with so many positive responses."
The next show at the Merlin to come under the banner is bitter-sweet physical comedy You and Me by Little Soldier Productions on Saturday, November 2 at 7.45pm.
Tickets cost £5.
