Diamond couple celebrate their 60th year
A LOVING couple from Yeovil are today celebrating 60 happy years of marriage.
John and Kathleen Hardaker, of Windermere Close, tied the knot on August 29, 1953, in Bradford.
And the caring duo, who have lived in Yeovil for nearly ten years, are in jubilant spirits after reaching the special milestone.
Mr Hardaker, 82, met his sweetheart when running his own pig farm. She lived in one of the nearby homes which supplied the farm with pig food.
He previously worked as a driving instructor in the Army.
Mrs Hardaker, 80, was a legal secretary and also worked in Marks and Spencer for a number of years.
After getting married, the couple ran a pub in Bradford, before moving to Yeovil in 2004.
The couple have five children – Michael, Stephen, John, Paul and Anne.
They also have 18 grandchildren and nine great-granchildren.
All of the family joined together to celebrate the special milestone earlier this week.
Mr and Mrs Hardaker are set to mark their anniversary today by going on holiday.
Their family congratulated the diamond duo on their special achievement.
