SENIOR politicians including deputy prime minister Nick Clegg will be visiting Somerset on Saturday to support the Liberal Democrats' bid to regain control of Somerset County Council.

Mr Clegg will be joined by Paddy Ashdown, Farming minister and local MP David Heath and local MPs Tessa Munt, Jeremy Browne and David Laws in Highbridge to launch the Lib Dem campaign to take control of Somerset County Council in May.

Deputy Prime Minister and leader of the Lib Dems Nick Clegg said: "We have come here to launch our challenge to the Conservatives who have forced this county to its knees over the last four years. The Lib Dems want to run services with down-to-earth common sense."
