Deer dies after 'nearly having throat ripped out' in savage dog attack
A wildlife charity has released a graphic image of a deer fatally injured in a savage dog attack in Somerset.
Secret World Wildlife Rescue said the female roe deer almost had her throat ripped out during the attack by two Jack Russells near Cheddar, and wants it to serve as a reminder to dog owners to keep their animals under control while out walking.

“When walking out in the countryside please be aware of wildlife in the area,” said charity founder Pauline Kidner.
“The cries from the injured animal were so blood curdling and loud that help soon arrived and we were quickly called to the scene.

“But sadly the injuries to the deer were so severe that, despite our best efforts, we were unable to save her.
“This is the second attack by dogs on wildlife in the last few days and, with all the wet and now cold weather, we are bracing ourselves for more wildlife casualties."
