Cases Somerset Rebels promoter Debbie Hancock is predicting an exciting end to the season at the Oaktree Arena after the team qualified for the Premier League play-off final.

The Rebels needed to beat Leicester Lions by seven points or more to be sure to advance from the group stage, and did so in style with a 54-39 victory.

It means Somerset speedway fans can look forward to home-and-away finals in both the Premier League play-offs and League Cup.

“We now have to wait and see who we will be facing in the final but, whoever that turns out to be, I am sure it will produce two great matches for the fans to enjoy," said Hancock.

"With the Rebels also in the League Cup Final, these are certainly exciting times for everyone at the Oaktree Arena.”

On last night's victory, Hancock added: “Although Leicester pegged us back during the first half of the meeting, and despite us not really getting a foothold in those early heats, our overall strength came to the fore in the latter stages to see us through to the Championship Final.

"Given the amount of rain we’ve had here in recent days as well as on the morning of the match itself, I thought the standard of racing was excellent.

"Although Leicester made it difficult for us, the boys were not to be denied and so it proved.”
