Dean Evans stunner earns Frome Town a draw at Chippenham Town
Frome Town skipper Dean Evans rescued a point with a superb 30-yard shot in the fourth minute of stoppage-time in his side’s Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division 2-2 derby draw at Chippenham Town.
The Bluebirds had taken a two-goal lead, but failed to defend it in the second period.
Chippenham went ahead on six minutes when Luke Ballinger’s corner was headed into his own net by Frome defender Ryan Bennett.
Visiting goalkeeper Darren Chitty then kept his side in the game as he parried Ballinger’s free-kick and also stopped Alan Griffin’s follow-up, while Iain Harvey’s eventual effort was ruled out for offside.

Chippenham doubled their lead on 26 minutes when Griffin rose at the far post to head home James Guthrie’s flag-kick.
Chitty saved Guthrie’s low shot, while Griffin’s close- range effort was hacked away before it could cross the line.
On 37 minutes, Chitty again saved his side with a superb double block as he repelled Tom Knighton’s headed effort and then kept out Ballinger’s follow-up.
Frome opened the second period on the front foot as Ben John was forced to turn away Matt Smith’s cross from under his bar, before the Bluebirds goalkeeper pushed away Darren Jefferies’ effort.
At the other end, Chitty made a smart save to keep out Guthrie’s near post effort, while a fine move started and finished by Dean Griffiths saw Chitty come out on top.
As Chippenham continued to defend deeply, Mike Perrott’s 78th-minute volley pulled Frome back into the game.
A Bluebirds’ corner eight minutes later squirmed through to Griffin, but his close-range flick was stopped on the line.
Late on, a poor headed clearance fell to Evans, whose fierce drive gave John no chance.
