Darts legend Wayne Mardle to visit Midsomer Norton Cricket Club
Darts legend and Sky Sports commentator Wayne "Hawaii 501" Mardle visits Midsomer Norton Cricket Club this month for an exhibition night.
Fans will have an opportunity to see one of the sport's most entertaining and engaging characters up close and some lucky punters will even have the chance to go head-to-head with Mardle on the oche.
The Withies Lane clubhouse is the venue where several leading local players will take on the their professional opponent, while everyone attending will be entered into a draw to also earn a game against one of darts' leading stars.
Mardle started playing darts with his father and joined the BDO circuit in 1993. The "Hawaii 501" nickname stuck after he wore Hawaiian shirts on the oche for a bet.

He made his first appearance at the BDO World Championships in 2000 and the next year he reached the semi-finals, losing to eventual winner John Walton.
After switching to the PDC in 2003 he made four further World Championship semi-final appearances and gained a Sky Sports wildcard entry into the 2008 Premier League, just missing out on the play-offs.
However, in 2009, his season was ruined when he was struck down with mumps and had to be rushed to hospital when he tried to resume his schedule prematurely. The illness forced him to retire from the Premier League and miss other world ranking tournaments, making it impossible to defend his highest position of number five.
Mardle is now a regular member of the Sky team and has won praise for his easy delivery, analysis and insight.
He is at Midsomer Norton CC on Saturday, January 19, and the event starts at 7.30pm. Tickets costing £15 are available from Andy Cox on 07921 130871 or andrew.cox@hanson. com.
