"It is testament to all the multi-skilled people we have at this diverse company."

The firm received the award for ingenious emergency work it carried out on West Quay wall on the banks of the River Parrett in Bridgwater.

The wall collapsed in November 2011 when 600 tonnes of masonry became dislodged. People were evacuated from 19 nearby homes and Crestmoor carried out emergency stabilising work with Somerset County Council.

Peter Radford, structures manager at the county council, said: "The award is an extraordinary scoop. This is an example of Somerset engineering receiving international recognition. A team of engineers brought together their ideas and worked together to solve a dangerous situation."

Permanent repair work on the wall is expected to be completed in May.
