Frome Town boss Andy Crabtree has brought three new players to the club over the last week.

Young midfielder Ashley Clarke has joined from League One side Yeovil Town, striker Mike Whittington has signed from Yate Town and defender Michael Reaney has arrived from Warminster Town.

Meanwhile, the majority of last year's squad have re-signed, while midfielder Matt Peters has returned to the club after a year with Dorset Premier Division side Wincanton.

Whittington has played at Forest Green Rovers, Weston-super-Mare and Gloucester City, before moving to Yate, who were relegated last season and will join newly-promoted Frome in Division 1 South and West of the Southern League.

"He's a player I had my eye on last season," said Crabtree.

"It gives us another attacking option, which I thought we sometimes lacked last season.

"He's quick and strong and he's proven himself at a higher level."

Clarke was a regular in the reserve-team squad at Yeovil last season and Frome fought off interest from Blue Square South side Dorchester Town to complete his signing.

The 18-year-old can play anywhere across the midfield and played against the Robins in a Somerset Premier Cup tie a couple of years ago.

Reaney has made one appearance for Frome before, away to Willand Rovers two seasons ago, and is well known to Crabtree.

"I've known him since he was a young lad when I was manager at Warminster," he said.

"He got seriously injured playing youth football and has expressed a desire to play at a higher level, so he's going to train with us and we'll see how he gets on."

As far as last year's squad are concerned, with only Adamo Missiato and Richard Fey so far moving on, it has been confirmed that the following players have re-signed: Mark Salter, Gavin Eyre, Matt Cowler, Leigh Burke, Jamie Cheeseman, Dean Caslake, Paul Farrell, Simon Millard, Alex Lapham, Simeon Allison, Joe Gomes, Shaun Percival, Scott Armstrong, Jack Metcalf and Dan Harvey.

The departure of Fey has left Crabtree in search of a new goalkeeper but, with two other stoppers at the club, he said that he is looking for one with experience.

"I'm in discussions with one lad and have been in talks with another," he admitted.

"We have got two keepers at the club already, so I'm looking for someone with experience.

"I've got an open mind and we've got two good keepers here, so I would quite happily go with them.

"Both of the lads I've been speaking to have experience at a higher level."
