As well as spending their time together in the band, they had also volunteered to help renovate the pub, formerly known as the Ashcott Inn, when it was taken over by Afghan Heroes.

The pub was re-launched as The Retreat at the end of last year, a facility which helps former service personnel make the sometimes difficult transition back to civvy street.

The couple have decided to marry at the venue early next year.

They will also be guests of honour at the Retreat's Valentine's Day celebrations.

They also hope to hold their engagement party at the venue.

Scott said: "I used to live in Ashcott so I was delighted to return before Christmas to help renovate the premises.

"It really is a proper village pub again and people are coming from miles around to enjoy the atmosphere.

"It has been such a big part of our life and it's only right that it features in our wedding plans."

Afghan Heroes founder Denise Harris said The Retreat had enjoyed particularly brisk business since launching in December and that Scott and Dawn's big day would be the icing on the cake.

She said: "We have known the couple for a long time and we were delighted The Retreat has played such a major part in their engagement and wedding."
