Couple unite their pedal power for church
Church members gathered at Stone, East Pennard, to wish Carol and Andrew Stuart well as they set off on their epic journey to raise thousands of pounds for roof repairs for their village church.
The couple are cycling on their tandem from Land's End to John O'Groats. They hope their 1,000-mile trek on their bicycle made for two will raise £4,000 through sponsorship for East Pennard's All Saints Church.
Carol, 48, a retired civil servant, and Andrew 57, a semi-retired psychology lecturer, hope to complete the journey, avoiding main roads as far as possible in three weeks.
They will tow a trailer behind them with their luggage and plan to stay in bed and breakfasts.

"It will be quite a gruelling challenge," said Andrew before they left. "We aim to cycle up to 70 miles a day. It will be a testing time but we are determined."
Carol and Andrew, who are bellringers and worshippers at the church are a familiar sight on their tandem in the lanes around their village – usually carrying their dog Breezer in their trailer.
The church needs to raise £60,000 for the repairs. It has already raised £40,000 but needs to raise the remaining £20,000 before work can begin.
Carol and Andrew were given a grand send-off by fellow parishioners and Ditcheat's vicar, the Rev Christine Donkersley, as they left for their challenge.
