Council tax conmen are coaxing bank details out of people tempted by fake refunds.

The ploy involves getting an unexpected phone call from a third party claiming they are refunding tax payers on behalf of the Government and Sedgemoor District Council.

Beware unsolicited telephone calls offering council tax refunds

The tricksters claim the refund is due by having the council tax band of your home re-valued for a one-off fee. Bank details are then requested for the refund.
