Council not responsible for latest Crewkerne roadworks that angered residents

Somerset County Council has said it is not responsible for South Street in Crewkerne being dug up which prompted an angry response from residents.

The road had recently been resurfaced and residents were infuriated to find it was being worked on so soon afterwards.

But a Somerset County Council spokesman said: “Following the resurfacing works, BT became aware of the need to lay a new service into the Police Station. Consequently Somerset County Council Highways have no ability to restrict this form of works hence the activity on site.”
