Fit and healthy Gemma Conway got a letter from her council declaring her dead – and offering her boyfriend a council tax discount.
Gemma, 30, was on holiday with partner Jonathan Osborne, 31, when her mother Barbara found a letter at her daughter's home regarding "the late Gemma Conway".
North Somerset Council offered Jonathan their condolences but said he could be eligible for a 25 per cent cut on his council tax.
Their letter, sent in an admin mix-up, said: "I have recently been advised by the registrar of the death above and I wish to express my condolences. If you are the only adult occupant of the property then you may qualify for a 25 per cent discount as a single resident."
Gemma, of Weston-super-Mare, Somerset said: "I have never felt so cold and weird in all my life. I felt a bit sick about it."
