Community fund secures Castle Cary carnival
A CARNIVAL will come to Castle Cary and Ansford this autumn, thanks to funding of £2,500 from Somerset County Council.
Although collections at the annual carnival raise thousands of pounds for local charities and good causes, the dazzling procession is never a certainty as it costs around £6,000 to stage and organisers depend on fundraisers and donations.

Last year a lack of funds threatened Castle Cary and Ansford's illuminated and children's carnivals but the celebrations will take place this autumn after a welcome boost from local county councillor Bob Little's community fund.
Castle Cary and Ansford Carnival Society (CCACS) president Gordon Stockman said the donation was critical to securing the carnivals.
