Yeovil Town Ladies joint manager Nigel Williams wants his team to bounce back strongly against West Ham United on Sunday after labelling some as “spectators” during last weekend’s defeat.

The Glovers slipped to a 1-0 FA Women’s Premier League Southern Division loss to Reading, just seven days after beating the Royals in the League Cup.

Boss Williams said he was looking for a response when the Hammers visit Wells City. “I said before the game that it was all about who wanted it the most,” he said.

“Unfortunately in a game like this you have to be honest and say that the visitors got the points because they were quicker to the ball and raised their game.

“We had some spectators on the field and in no way can you do this at this level. I think if you asked any of the players if they were happy with their performance they would say they were not.

“We will get back to the training ground now and pick ourselves up, dust off the negatives and look to the next match. All the girls have accepted the constructive criticism that took place between the squad and the management team. We will see the response we get.”

Williams backed Yeovil’s quality to shine, adding: “I have complete faith in the players we have and that has not changed from the Reading performance.”
