DAFFODILS and dancers were in abundance in Queen's Square, Clevedon, on Saturday afternoon.

Clevedon Pride's first Easter Fair attracted hundreds of revellers to the town centre on a gloriously sunny day.

Attractions included bric-a-brac, plant and book stalls, as well as vegetables and fruit on sale.

Traders supported the event by donating gifts, meals, Easter eggs, beauty treatments, hairdressing vouchers and hot cross buns.

Music was provided by 12-year-old opera singer Florence Wadley, who was recently selected to sing with the National Youth Choir of Great Britain, and Mia and Tuesday Eagles, from the girl group Lip Gloss.

The large audience was also entertained by teams of dancers from The Dance Factory with a number of spectacular routines.

Clevedon resident Sherry Wring said "I think it is really wonderful to see so many people enjoying themselves in our town square. Surely this is what it was meant for."

The event raised more than £1,000 to be used for improvements to the town's Christmas lights.

Clevedon Pride chairman Howard Coggins said: "I would like to thank everyone who supported this event and made it such a success.

"Our aim is to improve the look of Clevedon and to get people to take pride in their town.

"This type of event, where people have a good time, all for a good cause, is the sort of thing we want to see happening on a regular basis.

"We are already working on the next event. We are delighted that the water feature has now been sorted out and within the next few weeks planters and planting will be turning up in the square. It just goes to prove that where there is a will there is a way."
