Clevedon sergeant to take up new role
CLEVEDON police sergeant Gareth Starr is leaving the town after two years.
His last day is Friday, December 18, when he will then move to the 24/7 response team at Weston Police Station under the leadership of Inspector Mark West.
Sergeant Deborah Budd will take over his role in the New Year.
Sgt Starr said: "I have enjoyed my two years at Clevedon and it is now time for a fresh challenge to test some old skills and learn some new ones.
"One of the most enjoyable successes during my time at Clevedon was the anti-social behaviour bus that ran during the summer months.
"This involved us seizing a large amount of alcohol and dealing with anti-social issues across the northern part of the district.
"Beat managers and PCSOs from Clevedon, Nailsea and Portishead worked together to tackling this. I also helped to instigate a beat surgery at Morrisons where the public could come and speak with me and my staff which has provided successful and we alternated the months we attended so that we could keep this process fresh.
"I would like to thank all the people I have met and rest assured that the staff at the station will continue their good work under Debbie's leadership and keep striving to make Clevedon a safe place to live and work."
