Clarrie Dunbar defeat champions Yeovil in Somerset County League opener
Clarrie Dunbar stunned Yeovil in the opening match of the men's Somerset County League season.
Defending champions Yeovil have dominated Division 1 over the past three years but Clarrie produced an excellent performance to triumph 88-72 overall in a contest which saw two 21-end rinks played at home and away.
The victory for Clarrie, who finished in second place last year, was built on two excellent results in Yeovil from rinks skipped by Terry Perkins and Fred Pope.
Rink scores at Clarrie: Dick Discombe, David Pitcher, Alan Colebrooke & Russell Francis 28-15. Nick Greening, Alan Brown, Francis Parker & Alan Totterdale 17-23.

Clarrie's ladies could not match that result when they were beaten 44-29 by Thornbury A in the over-60 ladies' national double rink competition.
One rink was played at each venue and Clarrie started well, holding a 17-13 advantage after ten ends.
The next five ends saw a dramatic turnaround as Thornbury took a ten-shot lead, which they extended before the 21st and final end.
Rink scores at Clarrie: Kathy Walker, Teresa King, Annie Jones & Jeanette Wheeler 14-24.
