Children's TV star Sportacus helps open new village play area
More than 100 people attended the official opening of Chapmanslade play area.
It was opened by members of the Chapmanslade Community Action Plan group and the BBC's Lazy Town children's television character Sportacus, who unveiled a plaque.
The group secured more than £30,000 worth of funding from the Big Lottery Fund, Groundwork UK's Community Spaces grant programme and from Hills Waste through the Landfill Communities Fund.
After the opening there was a village barbecue and fun day for children.
A spokeswoman for the group said: "The whole day had a really happy feel about it.
"The playground was packed with children playing on all of the equipment.
"It was great to see people enjoying the space."
