Check this out: Supermarket girl joins circus
Former supermarket checkout girl Jennie Legat is wowing old friends and neighbours in her current daredevil role with Gerry Cottle's Circus.
Jennie, 32, who was born in Bristol and grew up in Wells, has an apple shot from her head by a crossbow bolt during the shows and as the circus is based at the Royal Bath and West Showground, Shepton Mallet this week, until Sunday, there are plenty of old acquaintances admiring her nerves of steel.

Jennie went to university after leaving school and, after graduating, accepted a job in Somerfield supermarket, originally as a check-out girl, then eventually promoted to the buying team.
After ten years, she was made redundant and decided to change her life and trained as a circus performer at Wookey Hole Circus School, run by Mr Cottle.

She started to learn hula hoop and aerial silks and got her first break to tour as a hula hoop girl in the Basil Brush show, and then with a family circus. It was only this year that her real ambition was achieved when she was offered a job with Gerry Cottle's Circus. Excitement soon turned to fear when she found she would also have to carry the apple target on her head.
Yesterday she said: "I was terrified at first. My mum would never even let me play with a bow and arrow with a rubber sucker on the end let alone have a bolt flying towards my head at 50 miles per hour."
