Cellist returns with Elgar
Wells Cathedral School welcomes internationally acclaimed cellist Jamie Walton as he makes a rare concert appearance in a concert at Wells Cathedral.
He will perform Elgar's Cello Concerto with the school's symphony orchestra on Saturday, November 16.
It will be a homecoming for Jamie, who is a former Wells specialist music pupil.
The concert will also be a very personal event for Jamie. Due to family illness he had to leave Wells suddenly and never had the opportunity to perform a concerto piece which many specialist students do.
So more than two decades on, he returns to play the concerto he wanted to play as a teenager and to raise vital funds for Cedars Hall.
Jamie is patron of the project which will see the Wells Cathedral School Foundation raising £9.4 million for a community performing arts hall in Wells. It will provide Wells specialist musicians and the community with a vital facility.
Jamie is a rising international soloist who is renowned for his distinctive voice. He has performed in Europe, the USA and the UK in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls and festivals.
The concert on November 16 starts at 7pm. Tickets cost from £10 to £20 and are available from the cathedral box office on 01749 834483 or email email@example.com
