He has worked as a bodyguard for Michael Jackson’s family and worked with Andy Norman, who has trained actors Brad Pitt and Liam Neeson.

Mr Richards, 26, of Yeovil, said: “It’s crazy the people I’ve been able to meet already in my life.

“It’s going to be amazing having Alex here. He’s a really nice bloke and he’s really down to earth, and of course he’s one of the best fighters – he really knows his stuff.

“His seminars are for anyone, he’ll be teaching something called ground and pound, which is when you’re on the floor and how to get someone off you.

“It’s really good for women to learn too for rape situations – it’s not just fighting, it’s protection in real situations. It’s not choreographed.”

The open day on Saturday, September 29, will also give people the chance to look around the new academy.

The centre will be open to men and women and children as young as two, with a range of classes including kick boxing, KMF and boxing.

The event starts at 10am with a signing with Mr Reid.

Mr Richards will also be signing copies of this month’s Martial Arts Illustrated magazine, of which he is on the front cover.

Seminars with Mr Reid will start at 11am, and need to be booked on a first come, first served basis by calling Mr Richards on 07852 148734.
