It was personality it was looking for when it invited its hotels to enter its first ever fan competition.
Voted for by fans via the social networking site Facebook, the competition sought to find the guest room that is different from anything else.
The Swan Hotel was the only British hotel to make it through to the final stage of the category and eventually triumphed over stiff competition from around the world.
Natasha Mingo-West from the hotel explained why it won.
"The Cathedral Suite offers panoramic views of Wells Cathedral and contains a bedroom, sitting room and bathroom furnished with gilded French furniture, silk curtains and an eclectic mix of antiques," she said.
"When we set about creating it we wanted a suite of opulence, glamour and luxury.
"The bathroom has a specially commissioned grand free-standing brass bath and walk-in double shower."
With its £300-price tag – £500 on a Saturday – it is known that the suite has been the choice of destination for Antiques Roadshow's Fiona Bruce, as well as other BBC presenters. Pop stars have also stayed there. And it is often been booked to be the backdrop for fashion shoots.
But it is more often it is used as a taste of luxury for wedding couples.
"We always want to put our famous guests in the Cathedral Suite but more often than not, it's always a last minute booking and usually the room is already booked to a wedding couple especially at the weekends so we are not able to let them stay in the suite," said Natasha.
