Evercreech 2nds 230-7 beat Horrington 2nds 133 all out by 97 runs

Stand-in captain Rob White kept his 100 per cent record at the toss and elected to bat on what looked a typical Evercreech wicket.

The father and son opening partnership of Rob and Glyn White started steadily, with neither batsman being troubled by the opening bowlers.

Runs were beginning to flow for both batsmen when the introduction of M Gibbs (3-36) saw Rob (39) and Glyn (40) depart in his first two overs.

The in-form Alex White came and went, brilliantly caught by N Burge, without troubling the scorers, and 79-0 became 83-3.

Paul Belcher (56) and Richard Jones (69no) began repairing the damage, not missing any opportunities to hit the ball to the boundary, and Creech look like posting a commanding total.

However, the fall of Belcher saw a mini collapse, with Murphy (0) and John (4) falling to Whittaker (1-49) and Fridd (2-59) respectively.

A quick flourish from Callum Wolff (12) left the home side on 230-7 and Jones, still holding his bat, recorded a personal best score.

After an impeccable tea, Horrington set about chasing down the daunting total. Hostile bowling from James Wolff (0-16) and some accurate swing bowling from Jamie McDonald (2-20) saw runs hard to come by and wickets falling at regular intervals.

After McDonald's superb spell, the introduction of E Reed (1-39) had an instant impact, with a brilliant leg-side catch behind the stumps from captain R White, the second of his three, dismissing Pardey (17).

A double change saw Callum Wolff (3-26) and A White (3-33) continue to take regular wickets.

The dismissal of R Howe (45) quite possibly brought the moment of the match, with the ball taking his outside edge and A White in the slips showing incredible reactions to catch the ball low to his right.

This triggered manic celebrations as the whole team congregated around him, still in disbelief at what had happened. Once everything had settled back down, it was left to Murphy (1-2) to get Scammell (8) caught and bowled, the last of nine catches by Evercreech, and Murphy's third, which meant a well-earned victory for the home side.
