Organisers of a Casino Royale evening held at the Mill at Rode last November have presented a cheque for £1,095 to the Merlin Theatre.

Theatre director Claudia Pepler received the donation from Steven Lee and Pete Miles-Mackay at the Little Red Cafe.

Mr Miles-Mackay said: "Our target for the evening was to raise £1,000 for the Merlin whilst having fun on the gaming tables, so we are delighted that we exceeded this."

Guests were invited to dress in 007 style and play roulette, blackjack and poker.

Ms Pepler said: "The casino evening was great fun and such a lovely way to raise money for the Merlin."
