The Somerset Tourism Association and its lead brand Visit Somerset have announced that Higos Insurance Services Ltd are the latest major Somerset company to get behind the STA with financial support.

The money will help redesign and rebuild the Visit Somerset website, which is in need of creative development as it records well over 19 million hits this year to date.

Bob Smart, chairman of the STA, said: "We're delighted to be joining forces with a very respected local business name, Higos Insurance Services Ltd, who are one of the UK's best-known insurance brokers. The support we in the STA get from companies such as Higos underlines how vital a part of Somerset's economy the tourism industry is, and it's a privilege to be associated with them in serving the local community."

Ian Gosden, managing director of Higos Insurance Services, said: "Higos is committed to promoting the county of Somerset and is delighted to support the development and sustainability of the STA.

"Somerset is the heartland of our business and we know it's a great place to live, to visit and to do business. For too long we have felt Somerset has remained a well-kept secret and we hope our sponsorship of Visit Somerset will help spread the word, attracting more visitors to the county.

"We look forward to working closely with Visit Somerset, as they endeavour to attract tourists and deliver economic growth to the county."
