A NEW family-friendly restaurant in Burnham is to be officially opened by the town's carnival queen on Friday, March 5.

Traditional home-cooked eatery Truly Scrumptious was set to launch at the former Crowdy's Bistro site on College Street.

Owner Scott Pring, who is head chef at Bridgwater College, said it will be a family-friendly, old-fashioned coffee shop selling quality home-cooked food.

The carnival queen, Jessica Rogers, was to help with the opening and a magician too.

Mr Pring added he believes there is a gap in the market in the area and is looking for two or three part-time staff.
