Lee Hembury, from Glastonbury, kick-started the season with a new club and bike at the New Era road race meeting at Mallory Park.

This year, Hembury is racing a Yamaha R6 in the pre-injection class and qualified in 19th position with a grid full of formula/superstock and pre-injection 600s.

He battled hard in his first race and secured his racing career's first win by 100th of a second in his class, finishing 13th overall.

His second race was also close, but he was pipped at the line in second, and again 13th overall.

Hembury was overjoyed with his display on a bike he had not ridden until the day and would like to thank Caroline and Jim of The King William Inn, Glastonbury, for their sponsorship and his family for their help on the day. For more information, visit www.leehemburyracing.co.uk.
