Cards start countdown to Christmas
In their village, it's a sign that Christmas isn't far off.
Local people say you know Christmas is approaching when you see Joyce Fielding and Sally Burke setting up a table of Christmas cards on the High Pavement at Chew Magna.
Each year they sell cards for St Peter's Hospice in Bristol, the Children's Hospice South West – which has a site at Wraxall, near Bristol – and the Friends of the Bristol Children's Hospital.
Mrs Fielding has been selling Christmas cards for the charities for more than 20 years, and also sells them to local clubs, family, friends and people around Chew Magna.

She started selling NSPCC cards, and then went on to take on those which benefit other charities.
Mrs Fielding says she enjoys doing this and added: "I sell these as much as a service to the village as anything else."
