REFUSING to panic and hard work will see Yeovil Town reverse fortunes, according to captain Craig Alcock.

The Glovers are without a win since the opening day of the season and slumped to second from bottom in npower League One on Saturday thanks to a 4-0 loss at Notts County.

It is the lowest Yeovil have been under manager Terry Skiverton and Alcock said the weekend's fixture with Tranmere Rovers has become "massive".

He said: "Tranmere on Saturday is massively important. It is a well known fact that the results have not being going the way that we want.

"There are no panic stations yet. We are only five games in, and we are still not far off the pace so we will be okay.

"At the end of the day, as long as we are giving our all for the fans it is okay. As long as they can see that we are trying.

"There will be games where it is not going to come off for us. But they do not deserve some of the performances we have given them so far.

"You just have to keep digging away, and we will find a way in the end.

"Saturday is a game that you want to be as relaxed as you can going out, because at the end if the day it is a game of football.

"Obviously you want to do your best, but as individuals we want to play for ourselves as much as anything, because you want get in the game.

"As long as we go out with the right attitude and play the way we know we can then I think we will be okay."

Alcock is scheduled to make his 100th appearance for the Glovers on Saturday, after making his debut at Gillingham at the end of the 2006-7 season under Russell Slade.

The Truro-born player admitted his pride at captaining the team where he rose to prominence as a youth player and added he had no intentions of looking back.

"I knew that it was coming up quite soon, and I am just happy that I have managed to play that many games," said Alcock.

"It is nice to have played that many games in the league, and do okay, I hope. I am pleased.

"My first game at home captaining against Brentford, where I scored sticks in the memory. Leading the team out at Elland Road in front of friends and family that I had up there also sticks.

"To be fair, leading the team out in every game is good. Results might not always go the right way, but in the lead up I am proud every time I step out onto that pitch.

"I think that I make being local a bit more of a big deal, but at the end of the day I am just a normal person and player just trying to do my job and make my way in the game.

"Obviously being the captain gives the added responsibility, but at the end of the day I try to knuckle down and get on with it.

"Being a defender your main aim is to be consistent and play as many games as you can. Obviously I would like to add a few more things as well.

"I want to improve and get better, and there are obviously other attributes that I want to add to my game to get to the next level.

"It is nice being solid, and as long as the team is doing well, and I am involved in it, then I am happy.

"I would like to get more appearances in as soon as possible, but if I stay here for a long while and the club still want me, then obviously I must be doing something right."
