Candlelit concert for Earth Hour in Axbridge
Sixty minutes of candlelight and music happens in Axbridge next week during Earth Hour.
The lights will be shut off in St John’s Church, replaced with soft candlelight and a concert of classical, opera, folk, musicals, piano, guitar, glockenspiel and nostalgia from 8.30pm.

Earth Hour now inspires millions of people in more than 7,000 cities and towns across 152 countries and territories to switch lights off for an hour as a massive show of concern for the environment.
In Axbridge the audience comes together for an hour of light musical entertainment, a glass of wine or juice and to enjoy the tranquil beauty of the church in candle light.

All profits go towards supporting the church’s Zambia Link in Lugwalo.
Last year money was donated to support the setting up of an agricultural project in Lugwalo – training young people to plant and use farming implements.
A piece of land has also been purchased and following the rains, crops are beginning to sprout.
