Buffalo Gals at a Tin Tabernacle
The Tin Church that stands in the corner of a field by the cross roads at Brokerswood near Frome is a much-loved local landmark.
It's not unusual to see tourists stop and photograph it and our all-time favourite old-time country string band, the Buffalo Gals, chose it as the perfect backdrop for their record Won't Get Trouble In Mind.
The venue suits the band's sound to a tee.
Performing old-time country music from the Southern Appalachian region of the United States, the band specialises in using music, song and dance to convey the spirit, excitement and passion of American roots music.

The group was born out of the old-time country roots revue project which performed for Frome ECOS festival and the Gables Theatre American Music Festival.
When the band needed promotional photographs they used the church as a backdrop unaware that the quaint and intimate interior could provide the perfect performance space.
The timber interior has the most wonderful acoustic qualities that make it the perfect venue for unplugged performers.
So tomorrow, from 7.30pm, the Buffalo Gals return to Brokerwood and are performing there in their "spiritual home" by oil and candle light for a second time.
Tickets are available on 01373 823943 priced £12.50 to include refreshments.
